I'm Johnny Knoxville, and welcome to Jackass.
I'm Lane / burnt!toast (he/any) and welcome to my website! It has a library and a blag and a miscellany of other things up in the navbar.
I write science fiction about better futures, which is sometimes funny and always hopeful. I have too many stories not to tell. My current project is a book called Climbing the Down Escalator, about a small Scottish island at the fringes of a revolution, which will be hosted here for download and distribution under a CC-BY-SA licence as soon as I finish it.
I'm also trying to become something approaching a Computer Person, in a very slow and inept manner, so bear with me. I realised I liked computers far too late, and now I'm getting a baptism by fire as I crash high school comp sci with two years until university. For context, I'm manually coding this in emacs on a 12-year-old Acer, that I managed to install Debian on after hours of swearing. I am learning HTML, CSS, and probably PHP and Javascript, from absolutely jack, and that's just for building this site. At school I'm doing Python and SQL, the former of which I use all the time and the latter I avoid like the plague. XML if I try and do an RSS feed. C or C++ or C# if I ever just want to feel true pain. You get the idea.
Speaking of this site, this site and the things hosted on it are very much under construction, so, uh, sorry if things are broken and/or empty. (Hell, as of the most recent edit of this page, the stylesheet's broken.)
This site also has no cookies, ads, or trackers. No analytics are collected, not even hits. (At least, I think so. If I've messed up the coding, do contact me.) On a similar-ish note, no genAI is used anywhere on this site, and none of it is vibe-coded.
New things are being added all the time (read: whenever I can) so check back often. At some point (read: whenever I figure out XML) there'll be an RSS feed for that.
